Andrea Cookson, MD
Andrea has worked as a board certified psychiatrist for over 30 years. She received her MD from the University of Colorado followed by an internship at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. It was during this time that she fell in love with the Pacific Northwest. Andrea had a psychiatric residency at the University of British Columbia and finished her study at the Institute of Living – Hartford Hospital in Hartford, CT. After completion, she returned to the Seattle area.
Her primary areas of interest include psychopharmacology, psychiatric diagnosis, psychotherapy, diet, exercise, developmental disorders, and veteran affairs. She has had the privilege of being acquainted with returning veterans and discussing their experiences both on deployment and their adjustment to civilian life, through her work at the Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma.
In her spare time, Andrea enjoys outdoor activities, including walking and hiking. She also participates in cycling and Tai Chi at the YMCA. She has an 18 year old Chihuahua named Dax.
